The situation around COVID-19 in Russia can be regarded as the beginning of an epidemic; over the last week, 35 thousand cases of infection with the virus were discovered – this is twice as many as a month ago. This statement was made by the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova during the “government hour” at a plenary meeting of the Federation Council.
As Popova noted, the wave of coronavirus cases is growing. According to her data, 35 thousand cases were identified over the past week, which is twice as many as a month ago.
In addition, the politician emphasized, 30% of those infected are in Moscow, the Moscow region and St. Petersburg.
“…This means that the wave will continue to spread across the country, and today’s situation is regarded as the beginning of an epidemic,” said the head of Rospotrebnadzor.
The head of the federal body also said that already in early September, experts recorded an autumn exacerbation of influenza and Covid.
