The head of Rosobrnadzor, Anzor Muzaev, did not rule out the possibility of including the Arabic language exam in the list of Unified State Exam subjects. He also noted that the possibility of introducing Arabic language teaching in secondary schools is now being considered.
Muzaev emphasized that the department is committed to expanding cultural ties, not limiting itself only to cooperation with China.
The Kommersant publication notes that the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation stated that this initiative will receive support not only in Islamic regions, but also in large cities. However, HRC member Kirill Kabanov suggested that the active spread of the Arabic language could provoke interethnic conflicts and strengthen extremist tendencies.
According to linguists, interest in learning Arabic is growing not only among ethnic Muslims, but also among entrepreneurs who need translators. They suggest that introducing “secular” Arabic language education in schools could promote tolerance and prevent religious extremism among teenagers.
