Roscosmos said it was time to develop international “rules for space traffic”
International rules under which countries will launch space satellites and control their movement in order to avoid dangerous situations may appear in 5 years, Interfax reports, citing the opinion of Alexander Bloshenko, executive director of Roscosmos.
During a visit to South Africa, Bloshenko suggested that “within five years, international rules for space traffic will be developed by analogy with air traffic.”
He noted that by 2030, according to the plans of space powers, the number of satellites revolving around the Earth will exceed 100,000.
Bloshenko also considers the judgment that “the space is big, and there is enough space for everyone in it” to be wrong. He said that attractive orbits are limited, and their “overcrowding” threatens dangerous situations.
