Roskosmos postponed the launch of the Orel manned spacecraft for two years

The launch of the new Orel manned spacecraft will not be possible before 2025, said Sergey Krikalev, executive director of Roscosmos for manned programs. Its launch was planned for 2023.
The Orel spacecraft will have to deliver people and cargo beyond the Earth orbit, including to the Moon. A lighter version of the ship can be used for flights to space stations. The ship will accommodate six crew members, as well as a payload weighing up to 500 kg.
“The planned launch year was actually 2023, that is, the next one, but according to the current situation, there will probably not be a launch of the ship before 2025,” Mr. Krikalev said at a meeting with students at the Voenmekh Baltic State Technical University (quote from “Interfax”). He explained the postponement of the launch of a manned spacecraft by “the creation of ground-based testing facilities.”
It was assumed that the launch of the Orel manned spacecraft would take place in 2015, and the first regular flight in 2018. However, the deadline for the program was postponed to 2023. In October 2021, the general designer of the Energia Rocket and Space Corporation, Vladimir Solovyov, announced the possibility of a new transfer of the launch of the spacecraft.
On February 2, the ex-head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, announced that the state corporation had determined a test schedule. According to the plan, in 2023, tests of emergency rescue systems at the ship’s launch complex were supposed to pass. They were supposed to include shooting, withdrawal and landing of the ship. After that, the rescue and landing systems must be tested.
