Roskosmos: deorbiting of Progress MS-21 spacecraft postponed

The deorbiting of the damaged Progress MS-21 cargo ship has been postponed, the press service of Roscosmos reported. Earlier it became known about the depressurization of Progress MS-21: a coolant leaked from the thermal control system.
According to Roskosmos, after undocking from the Poisk module of the International Space Station (ISS), they surveyed the outer surface of the ship, no visual damage was found.
“The de-orbiting of Progress MS-21 has been postponed. Today the State Commission will make a decision on the further flight program of the spacecraft,” told in the press office.
The company added that two options are now being considered: docking the ship to the Russian node module “Prichal” in order to find out the reason for the depressurization of the ship’s thermal control system or deorbiting.
On February 11, the press service of the state corporation announced the depressurization of Progress MS-21, which was supposed to complete its flight to the ISS last week. Roskosmos explained that happened coolant leak from the thermal control system, and did not rule out that the cause of depressurization could be a micrometeorite hit, as happened in the case of the Soyuz MS-22 in December 2022. The state corporation emphasized that the temperature regime and pressure on board the ISS are normal , the life and health of the crew is not in danger.
The undocking of the spacecraft from the ISS was planned on February 18, such a decision was made after a detailed study of images of damage to the thermal control system radiator on the outer surface of Progress MS-21. Roskosmos reported that after undocking, the cosmonauts would manually deploy the ship to photograph the alleged damage site. Today in the state corporation toldthat at 05:26 Moscow time the ship undocked from the Poisk module of the Russian segment of the station, after leaving the ISS, cosmonauts Sergei Prokopyev and Dmitry Petelin turned the ship around using the teleoperator control system and photographed the damage site.
