Reports that Russia may ban the sale of gadgets to the American company Apple are not true. This was announced on Wednesday, August 2, in the press service of Roskomnadzor.
The department gave a negative answer to the question of whether such a ban is possible based on the results of a study of Apple devices and other foreign gadget manufacturers to ensure sustainable and safe access of citizens to Russian digital services.
Earlier, Alexander Khinshtein, chairman of the Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, noted that the Russian authorities do not consider the ban on the use of Apple technology. At the same time, the parliamentarian emphasized that the security of storing personal data that goes to Apple’s foreign servers cannot be guaranteed.
Director of ANO PravoRobotov Nikita Kulikov expressed the opinion that Roskomnadzor will be able to make sure that powerful protection against spyware is present on Apple gadgets. Another thing is that the company itself collects biometrics of its users and, in fact, does not hide it, the expert pointed out.
