Roskomnadzor blocked Berkovich’s appeal to the court on Yandex Music

Roskomnadzor blocked the track “In Court 01/09/2024” on the Yandex Music platform with the voice-over of director Evgenia Berkovich’s poetic appeal to the court. The portal drew attention to this It’s My City. On January 9, Yevgenia Berkovich’s arrest was extended until March 10.

The track was recorded by actress Chulpan Khamatova, poet Naum Blik, musicians Vladi, Legalize, Krec and journalist Katerina Gordeeva (the Ministry of Justice recognized her as a foreign agent) to Vladi’s music. The text of the track is a poetic appeal by Evgenia Berkovich in court on January 9, 2024. However, on other platforms, for example on VK Music, the track is still available.

On January 9, at a meeting on the extension of the preventive measure, Evgenia Berkovich stated that she did not plan to hide from the investigation. In her appeal, she mentioned that she had two sick children. Nevertheless, the Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow extended the arrest of Evgenia Berkovich and playwright Svetlana Petriychuk until March 10.

Director Evgenia Berkovich and playwright Svetlana Petriychuk are accused of justifying terrorism (Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). They have been in pre-trial detention since May 2023. The basis for the criminal case was the play “Finist Yasnyi Sokol”. The plot of the play is based on the stories of Russian women who married Islamists and left for Syria. In 2022, the play won in two categories of Russia’s largest theater award, the Golden Mask. The investigation, after a “destructive examination”, discovered in the plot of the play the glorification of the “Islamic State” (the organization is recognized as terrorist and is banned).
