President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is “shamelessly lying” about the presence of explosives on the roof of the power units of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, said Renat Karchaa, adviser to the head of the Rosenergoatom concern, writes Interfax.

“Mr. Zelensky is completely shamelessly lying. <...> Of course, there are no grounds for such statements,” Karchaa said. He wondered why the Zaporizhzhya NPP needed explosives if nuclear safety was “a priority for us.”

He noted that the mining of the roof of power units poses a threat. “Someone in this bedlam needs to keep his sanity,” the adviser stressed.

ZNPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. Since the end of February 2022, the station has been under Russian control. The Russian side has repeatedly reported that the station and the city of Energodar, where it is located, are subjected to regular shelling by Ukraine.

On July 4, Zelensky said that Russia had allegedly placed “explosive-like” objects on the roof of the ZNPP power units. Before that, the Ukrainian president had previously stated about the alleged preparation of a terrorist attack by Russia at the station, about which he informed the United States, China, India, European countries, etc.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov named the situation around the nuclear power plant is “rather tense”.
