Cyclone Vanya, which brought heavy snowfall to Central Russia, was able to be photographed from orbit. Roscosmos published a satellite image of the cyclone taken by the Meteor-M satellite.
Roscosmos, citing meteorologists, noted that Vanya originated over the territory of Moldova, then went to the Baltic Sea, where it merged with the Atlantic cyclone. First, bad weather hit the north-west of Russia; by the end of the current work week, snowfalls reached Moscow. According to meteorologists, the height of snowdrifts in the capital region is breaking long-term records.
It is possible that the air temperature in Moscow will rise to zero over the weekend; the “plus” temperature is expected to remain the same next week.
