Despite the leak, the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft is in working condition, the hole in the spacecraft is less than 1 mm. This statement was made by the head of Roskosmos Yuri Borisov.
“Now the Soyuz MS-22 apparatus itself is in working condition,” he said (quote according to Izvestia).
Borisov added that the engines were checked on December 16, they are working. The head of Roskosmos also clarified that nothing threatens the lives of the crew members. According to him, on December 27, experts will make a decision on the situation with the ship.
Borisov noted that the leak occurred in the instrument-aggregate compartment. According to him, it is preliminary established that the hole is about 0.8 mm. He added that at present the temperature in the ship has stabilized, for all the time it has not risen above 30 degrees. Borisov stressed that reports of temperatures over 50 degrees are speculation.
At Roskosmos emphasizedthat the temperature on the ship is within normal limits and is not critical, as indicated by the crew members themselves.
Due to this problem, canceled for the second time, Russian cosmonauts Sergei Prokopiev and Dmitry Petelin went into outer space, who were supposed to prepare the radiator for transfer by the ERA manipulator from the Rassvet module and install it on the Nauka module.
Initially, these works were to be carried out on November 25, but then the spacewalk was thwarted due to the detected abnormal operation of pumps in the cooling system of one of the spacesuits.
