Roskosmos published the first footage that was taken by the Luna-25 station heading towards the Earth’s satellite. The State Corporation for Space Activities reported that the photos will go down in the history of Russian cosmonautics.
These are pictures taken by an onboard camera from a distance of 310,000 km from our planet on August 13. The first shows the Earth, the second – the Moon, the third – the apparatus itself, on which the manipulator bucket and the emblems of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Roscosmos and the flag of Russia are clearly visible. According to scientists, testing of the station’s equipment last Sunday showed that all devices, including the cameras that were used to take pictures, are working properly.
In addition, the specialists carried out two planned corrections of the Luna-25 trajectory, necessary for the precise fulfillment of the flight “task”.
The launch vehicle with the Luna-25 automatic station was launched August 11 from the Vostochny cosmodrome. It is worth noting that this is the first device in the history of modern Russia, which goes to the moon.
