Roscosmos State Corporation has sent a proposal to the Russian government to extend the operation of the Russian part of the International Space Station until at least 2028.
According to the executive director of the state corporation for manned programs, Sergei Krikalev, historically, the extension of operation was measured in four-year periods: first until 2020, then until 2024.
According to Krikalev, the documents have already been sent to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation. The executive director also suggested that astronauts from Europe could again fly to the ISS on Russian Soyuz spacecraft, but NASA must make the final decision.
Earlier, Director General of Roscosmos Yuri Borisov said that Russia would not participate in the ISS program after 2024, but the Russian side is ready to fulfill all its obligations.
Earlier it became known that the ISS celebrates the New Year three times – Moscow time, in the GMT time zone and US time. Each astronaut can order a set of their favorite food – so-called bonus containers are prepared for this.
