Roscosmos proposed, within the framework of international cooperation, to create a system of detailed monitoring of outer space “Milky Way”. The head of the state corporation Yuri Borisov talks about this stated during a speech at the International Astronautical Congress IAC-2023 in Baku.
Using optical-electronic, radio-technical and radar means, the new system will be able to carry out about 15 million measurements per day. “Milky Way” to identify artificial and natural objects in space with high reliability in order to prevent collisions. The information received will be able to be used by countries that provide their territory to create the necessary infrastructure.
“Such systems are global in nature, and of course, in our opinion, should be created in close cooperation and with broad international cooperation,” Borisov emphasized.
Borisov also reported about the start of work on the group of ultra-small satellites “Griffin”: 136 devices in orbit, which will provide information about the Earth’s surface with high intensity. At the end of July, African countries were invited to create the Griffin. The surveillance space system will allow you to receive up-to-date information at least 40 hours around the world and every 30 hours from all over Russia.
