Roscosmos designers recommended extending Russia’s work on the ISS until 2028

The Council of Chief Designers of Roscosmos recommended extending the period of operation of the Russian segment of the ISS until 2028, the state corporation reported.
It is reported that the leadership of Roskosmos and subdivisions of RSC Energia, as well as co-executors of work on the station project, took part in the work of the Council.
The current agreement on the work of the ISS expires in 2024. Earlier, the Russian side announced its intention to leave the project after 2024, the exact date was not called. The head of Roskosmos, Yuri Borisov, said that the exit from the project should coincide in time with the start of the deployment of a new Russian station. At the same time, at the end of 2022, the executive director of Roscosmos, Sergey Krikalev, said that the Russian government had requested additional data on the possibility of extending the operation of the ISS. The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, said that the Cabinet of Ministers considers it possible to extend the term of the ISS until 2028.
