Roscosmos announced the signing of an agreement between the Russian Federation and China on the study of the moon

Russia and China have signed an agreement on joint work on the study of the moon, said Yury Borisov, director general of the Roscosmos state corporation. write “RIA News”.

“We will move on to the next phase, possibly and most likely in close contact with our Chinese partners, which is the construction of a future lunar base. As you know, a corresponding memorandum was signed in 2021, and just recently an agreement was signed with the Chinese side on joint work in this area,” Borisov said.

Last February, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order in which he instructed Roscosmos to sign a memorandum of understanding with China on cooperation in the field of creating an international scientific lunar station (ISLS). This proposal was agreed with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice of Russia and other executive authorities.

March 9, 2021 Russia and China signed memorandum of cooperation in the creation of an international lunar scientific station (MNLS). Within the framework of the project, the two states will jointly develop a Roadmap for the creation of the station, interact in planning, justification, design, development, implementation and operation of the project.

In December 2022 Mishustin declaredthat the intergovernmental agreement between Russia and China on the creation of the MNLS has been prepared for signing.
