Rosaviatsia approved changes to the airframe of the imported SJ 100 – Kommersant

Rosaviatsia reportedwhich issued a certificate for the design of a modified airframe for the import-substituted short-haul aircraft SJ 100. The airframe design was developed by the Yakovlev company, and the Federal Air Transport Agency issued a certificate for it on December 26.

The press release states that the new modification allows the installation and implementation of Russian-made systems and assemblies into the aircraft design. The Rosaviation report notes that before the design was approved, computational and experimental work was carried out. “They were carried out, among other things, on a resource aircraft at TsAGI (Zhukovsky) and on a static glider at SibNIA (Novosibirsk),” the department explained.

According to Deputy General Director of United Aircraft Corporation PJSC Andrei Boginsky, obtaining a certificate for the design will allow the transition to production of the SJ 100 according to serial design documentation and the transfer of the first import-substituted aircraft into operation in 2024 in accordance with government decree.

In November, Kommersant’s sources reported that the arrival of the first two SJ 100s into Aeroflot’s fleet was finally postponed to 2024. It was assumed that import-substituted aircraft with Russian PD-8 engines would be delivered by the end of 2023. All parties, according to Kommersant, agreed on the transfer of supplies. In total, Aeroflot should receive 34 SJ 100s by 2025.
