Rosatom proposed a way to increase the rate of software import substitution

The roadmap for new industrial software (software), approved by the government commission for digital development, consolidates the special role of industrial customers who form the requirements for the functionality of priority classes of Russian sovereign software, said Alexei Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom. The State Corporation participates in the creation of a center of competence for import substitution of software in the field of mechanical engineering as one of the key vendors.

“An operational dialogue between enterprises and developers is designed to dramatically increase the pace of import substitution of industrial digital solutions. An active participant in this great work,Rosatom“acts at the same time as a consumer, developer and testing ground for in-demand software products for industrial use,” Likhachev said. According to him, the digital technological sovereignty of the industry can be ensured “in the shortest possible time” thanks to the “partnership” approach – the synergy of interests of consumers and developers of industrial software, with the coordinating role of the state.

By 2030, Russian developers of engineering software will have to create more than 2,300 new software products – this follows from the New Industrial Software roadmap for the period up to 2030, wrote “Vedomosti”. We are talking about computer-aided design and product life cycle management (CAD and PLM) systems of medium and heavy classes, which are mainly used in industry.

“Rosatom” will participate in the creation of a center of competence for import substitution of software in the field of mechanical engineering as part of the instructions of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, said Evdokia Rukavishnikova, deputy director for digitalization of the state corporation, in July. First of all, we are talking about the areas of the automotive industry, shipbuilding and aviation. “Our specialists will work with the center and with the developers in a single link on a daily basis as process coordinators, fulfilling orders for 3-5 anchor customers. And other clients will subsequently be able to use these developed solutions,” she explained to Vedomosti.

Mishustin suggested creating industrial centers of competence to replace foreign solutions in key sectors of the economy in early June at the CIPR-2022 conference in Nizhny Novgorod. Separately, Mishustin then stipulated the participation of the largest companies in this project. “And so that no one refuses them – neither in terms of time, nor in essence. In order to involve them as much as possible in the solution of the tasks before us – both in terms of timing and in terms of what we want to see as a result, ”he said.

The initiative to create industrial centers of excellence received broad support from business and rallied companies from different areas, said Alexander Shevelev, General Director of Severstal. “With the joint efforts of the state and business, we are compiling a roadmap for industrial software that needs to be replaced, and we are formulating requirements for a new relevant IT landscape to be developed,” he said. According to him, “Severstal» is ready to share with the market process and technological expertise, as well as its own best practices. “I am sure that the intellectual potential of Russian IT will be sufficient to provide support for processes and avoid technological backwardness in the future,” Shevelev concluded.
