rookie Chet Holmgren will miss the entire next season

Hard blow for OKC as the start of the NBA season approaches! Thunder rookie Chet Holmgren, chosen second in the last Draft in June, will miss the entire coming season with a serious foot injury.

The rookie was injured in a Pro-Am summer league game in Seattle while defending star LeBron James. He was one of several NBA players to take part in the CrawsOver Pro-Am event, along with James, Jayson Tatum, rookie Paolo Banchero, Dejounte Murray and Aaron Gordon.

“Certainly we are disappointed for Chet, especially given how excited he was to be on the pitch with his teammates this season. We know Chet has a long career ahead of him within our organization and the Oklahoma City community. One of the things that impressed us the most during Chet’s selection process was his determination and focus. We expect the same tenacity to carry him through this time as we work together and support him through his rehabilitation.”Thunder general manager Sam Presti said in a statement.

The game was called off in the second quarter due to pitch conditions. The unusually wet day in Seattle, combined with a full crowd, caused repeated wet stains and condensation in a rather dilapidated gymnasium.
