Romanian President Klaus Iohannis announced the discovery of new fragments of an unmanned aerial vehicle in the country. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg was informed about this, according to the website of the presidential administration.

The statement said the discovery of new drone fragments “similar to those used by the Russian army” raises serious concerns and poses risks. Bucharest also emphasized that Romania is a NATO member.

President Iohannis suggested that the incident may be related to “Russian attacks on Ukrainian ports on the Danube.” Against this backdrop, the United States decided to increase its military presence in Romania, including by stationing F-16 fighter jets there as part of an air policing mission.
