The Romanian government decided to expel a Russian diplomat from the country, reported Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that the Romanian authorities have decided to declare persona non grata on the territory of Romania the representative of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bucharest, who was informed of the above decision by the order of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Bogdan Aurescu,” the message says.
As noted in the Romanian Foreign Ministry, the decision was made due to the incompatibility of the activities of the Russian representative with the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961. The representative of the embassy left the territory of Romania this week.
Romania has previously become one of the EU countries that decided to limit the issuance of visas to Russian citizens. Similar decisions were taken by the Baltic countries, Poland, the Czech Republic and Finland.
