Roman Rotenberg headed the Russian national hockey team among players under 25

The head coach of the SKA hockey club Roman Rotenberg has been appointed the head coach of the Russia 25 team (the average age of the team is 25). This decision accepted coaching council of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (FHR). Under the leadership of Mr. Rotenberg, the team will take part in the May tour of the League of Stavok Grand Tour of the National Team.
Members of the coaching council of the FHR, which, among others, include Arkady Rotenberg (uncle of the head coach of Russia 25), Vladislav Tretyak, Pavel Bure, Zinetula Bilyaletdinov, unanimously voted for the proposed candidacy.
“Roman Borisovich has recently worked as a coach, but he managed to establish himself as a good specialist who knows how to develop players, this can be seen from the results of the progress of many hockey players in SKA,”— commented FHR President Vladislav Tretiak.
Businessman and sports functionary Roman Rotenberg has been coaching SKA (a Russian professional hockey club from St. Petersburg, playing in the Kontinental Hockey League) since January 2022.
FHR also named extended list of the composition of the national team “Russia 25”, the final composition will be announced next week. The team will begin training on April 23 in Novogorsk. From May 2 to May 16, Russia 25 will play friendly matches against the national teams of Belarus and Kazakhstan.
