The ex-mayor of Yekaterinburg Evgeny Roizman (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) pleaded not guilty in the case of discrediting the Russian army (part 1 of article 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), transmits TASS.
Roizman was detained in a defamation case at the end of August 2022. Then the court left him at large under a ban on certain actions, in particular, he was forbidden to use the Internet.
March 28 Prosecutor’s Office of the Central District of Moscow approved indictment in the case against Roizman. According to the investigation, in July 2022, the politician was in the premises of the Roizman Foundation, where he conducted a live broadcast and “publicly orally reported to an unlimited circle” information that, according to the investigation, discredits the Armed Forces (AF) of the Russian Federation.
Roizman was arrested for 14 days on March 16. His lawyer, Vladislav Idamzhapov, explained that the basis for the protocol was a repost on VKontakte, published on behalf of Roizman. Idamzhapov stressed that the politician is not involved in the offense, since he “never had a personal, personal page” on this platform. According to Roizman’s wife, Yulia Kruteeva, there is a group on the social network “Evgeny Roizman”, to which the politician has nothing to do. March 30 Roizman came out from the detention center.
