Heavy fighting continues at the junction of the Zaporozhye region and the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), the Ukrainian military is trying to surround Russian units on the Vremevsky ledge, said a member of the main council of the administration of the Zaporizhzhya region, chairman of the movement “We are with Russia” Vladimir Rogov.

“Without success in frontal attacks, the enemy is attempting to encircle our units on the Vremevsky ledge, making strikes on the flanks,” wrote Rogov in his Telegram channel.

According to him, because of this, the Russian fighters had to leave the village of Neskuchnoye again and retreat to previously prepared positions. At the beginning of the offensive, the enemy was also able to briefly enter this settlement, after which he was knocked out by a “counter-attack,” Rogov added. Keeping Neskuchnoye under artillery fire is “not an easy task,” as the village is located in a lowland, he specified.

On the eve of Rogov said that the grouping of troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Zaporozhye direction is over 100,000 people. According to him, a “comparatively small group” is involved in the offensive itself, and the main reserves are located far from the front line and are dispersed in parts of the territories of the Zaporozhye and Dnipropetrovsk regions, which are under the control of Kiev.

On June 8, Rogov said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had suffered heavy losses while trying to break through the defenses in the Orekhovsky sector in the Zaporozhye region. Then he clarified that the Ukrainian servicemen were entrenched in the area of the settlement of Rabotino. Rogov noted a large accumulation of military equipment in the direction. According to him, the goal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is to capture the city of Tokmak and break through to the Sea of Azov in order to “cut the land corridor to the Crimea.”
