On the afternoon of January 29, the Ukrainian military fired from a HIMARS multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) on a bridge across the Molochnaya River in the Melitopol region, Volodymyr Rogov, a member of the main council of the administration of the Zaporozhye region, said on his Telegram channel.

According to Rogov, the blow was struck during the repair work. He said that as a result of the shelling there were dead and wounded among civilians, and promised to give details of what happened later.
Earlier, the official reported on increased military activity in the Zaporozhye direction. Rogov said that the Russian military launched a local offensive on January 19. Then he added that four settlements in the Zaporozhye region had passed under the control of the Russian Federation.
On January 23, Rogov reported that Russian troops had moved their line of fire away from settlements in the region. The next day, he announced that the front line was gradually shifting to the north of the region. On January 25, the Russian military thwarted the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the region, Rogov reported. After that he told about the interception of the strategic initiative in the Zaporozhye region and stated that the “general offensive” of the Russian army in the region is still ahead.
