Robert Lewandowski, Barça star rookie, had a first bad experience with his new club on Thursday afternoon. The ex-Bayern player had his watch stolen, a Patek Philippe worth 70,000 euros, which he was able to recover a few hours later.
The facts took place when he came to train and signed autographs at the entrance to the Ciudad Deportiva Joan Gamper, the training center of the Catalan club.
The pilferer, 19, charged with “robbery with violence”
The 33-year-old drove into the center and stopped in front of three supporters, but when he rolled down the window a fourth man approached, snatched the watch from his wrist and drove off. Lewandowski then chased him by car but lost sight of him and informed club security who alerted the police.
The thief, a young adult of 19, was quickly found, as well as the watch, which he had hidden in an orchard near the training center. He was charged with “theft with violence”, explained the Catalan police, because even if Lewandowski was not assaulted, the fact that the watch was torn from his wrist justifies this qualification. The investigation showed that he had no connection with the supporters who stopped Lewandowski.
