Rob Bauer: NATO is ready for a direct confrontation with Russia

NATO spokesman Rob Bauer said the alliance is ready for a direct confrontation with Russia. The head of the military committee of the organization expressed this point of view in an interview with the Portuguese channel RTP. At the same time, the admiral noted that the Russian army is better armed and the Alliance now needs to rearm as much as possible.

Therefore, Bauer proposes to transfer the economy of Europe to a military footing. He apologized for such a call to EU citizens, but he is sure that this is necessary. For NATO “has lost its monopoly on military initiative.”

The admiral believes that an armed confrontation between Russia and the Alliance is possible with any outcome of the NMD. He accused Moscow of imperial ambitions and a desire to restore the country within the borders of the Soviet Union.

Earlier, high-ranking military officials both in the United States and in Europe indicated that they did not see any prerequisites for a possible Russian attack on the territory of NATO countries. Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg assured that the organization would not be a party to the conflict. And therefore does not supply its weapons to Ukraine.
