RIA Novosti: The West has found a way to finally defeat Russia

One of the British think tanks, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, also known as Chatham House, published an article in which James Nixey, director of the Institute’s Russia program, outlined his version of the West’s “final victory” over Russia, RIA Novosti reports.
Nixie believes that even “Kyiv’s victory” will not help the West to defeat Moscow.
In his opinion, this can only be done by destroying the “imperial idea” in the minds of the inhabitants of Russia.
Nixey notes that this will be difficult to achieve, as “many believe in this idea with religious fervor” and “even the Russian Orthodox Church justifies Russia’s ‘imperiality’ with messianism.”
At the same time, the agency’s columnist David Narmania believes that the Russian Federation, having challenged the unipolar system established by the collective West, has itself embarked on the path of struggle with imperial thinking.
“This is a very difficult path, but in this confrontation, Russia comprehends itself and tries to formulate its vision of the future,” writes Narmania.
According to him, Russia almost lost this right – after the collapse of the USSR. “Of course, this comprehension will not happen quickly, but the process has already been launched, and it will not be possible to stop it,” the author of the article in RIA Novosti sums up.
