One of the possible reasons for the crash of the Luna-25 station could be a malfunction of the Bius-L instrument for measuring orientation and acceleration. About it informs RIA Novosti with reference to the source.

The agency’s interlocutor explained that this device is needed to determine the orientation of the space station and its flight speed. The device transmits this data to the device’s computer, which issues a command to the engine.

According to the source, Bius-L has not previously been tested in space. He noted that this factor is “the main sign of the reliability of any device.” The interlocutor noted that a possible malfunction in the operation of the navigation device is only one of the versions; the final decision on the causes of the station crash remains with the emergency commission.

Roscosmos reported the crash of the Luna 25 mission on August 20. By words Head of the state corporation Yuri Borisov, the reason was that the station’s propulsion system, when trying to move into the pre-landing orbit, worked for 127 seconds instead of 84. The device was launched on the night of August 11 from the Vostochny cosmodrome.

Previously Borisov saidthat Luna-26 will go to the natural satellite of the Earth in 2027, and Luna-27 in 2028. The launch of Luna-28 is planned after 2030. After the crash of the device, it allowedthat the Luna 25 mission can be repeated in 2025-2026.
