The Su-57 fighter received an intra-fuselage long-range cruise missile. About it reports RIA Novosti with reference to an informed source.
“With its smaller size, the missile has a comparable range to those products that are used in long-range aviation on the Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers,” the source noted.
According to him, the size of the ammunition was reduced due to the “perfectly polished” design of the folding wing and internal layout. The engineers also used a new small-size bypass turbojet engine, the source added.
Previously RIA Novosti wrote on equipping the Su-34 bomber with long-range cruise missiles. The source noted that fighters with such missiles are already used in the special operation zone.
The Su-57 is also used during special operations. In August, during the Army-2023 forum, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu presented the latest weapons for a fifth-generation fighter, which, as a representative of the developer noted, “can significantly increase the ability to hit a different range of targets.”
