The Russian Armed Forces (AF) use mobile rapid reaction teams to fight Ukrainian drones on the banks of the Kakhovka reservoir. About it informs “RIA News”.
The mobile groups include an anti-aircraft crew armed with a DShK machine gun, which is installed in the back of a UAZ. To counter the drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian military does not take a stationary position, they leave for a given square when a target is detected. In a conversation with the agency, the military personnel of the Russian Armed Forces explained that such tactics make it possible to stop the drone attack. Due to its mobility, the anti-aircraft gun has almost no dead zones of fire.
The Kakhovka reservoir is located on the territory of Kherson, Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk regions. It also houses the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. Now the left bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region is controlled by Russian troops, the Armed Forces of Ukraine hold the right bank and regularly strike at the settlements and infrastructure of the left-bank regions.
The Russian special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. During the hostilities, the RF Armed Forces took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia. Since October 19, 2022, martial law has been introduced in these regions.
The day before, May 21, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported on the destruction of nine Ukrainian drones over the past 24 hours in the areas of the settlements of Lozovoe, Terny, Vodiane, Novoandreevka in the DPR, as well as Chervonaya Dibrova in the LPR and Energodar in the Zaporozhye region. In total, since the beginning of the special operation in Ukraine, the RF Armed Forces have eliminated 4,245 drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
