RIA Novosti: in the genes of the vast majority of Russians found craving for the earth

RIA Novosti published the results of a survey on the personal opinion of Russians on the topic of agriculture and horticulture. The agency reports that the study was conducted by the Russian Agricultural Bank – for it, as previously reported, the Russian Federation is seeking reconnection to the SWIFT system as part of resumption of the “grain deal” with Turkey, the UN and Ukraine.
Russia almost completely provides both itself and “a considerable part of the world” with the harvest, the RIA publication says, citing the bank’s materials. It is also pointed out that “the overwhelming majority” of Russians have “a craving for the earth in their genes.” This conclusion was made by researchers from the banking sector, having interviewed about a thousand citizens of the Russian Federation and received from 85% of them a recognition that they had harvested at least once in their lives. The remaining 15% of respondents said that they have not done this yet, “but they dream about it,” RIA points out.
Among those surveyed, 61.3% reportedly said they were “happy growing their own food”, using their own land or grandparents’ plots for this. Another 23.7% of respondents made it clear that they are already representatives of the agricultural sector – they said that they were harvesting “for work.”
Also, thanks to the study, it became known that modern Russians are not far from the peasants. Thus, the bank said that the majority of citizens are from the countryside “in the first and second generations.”
