Air defense systems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Odessa were hit by Soviet-made P-35B missiles. RIA Novosti reported this with reference to a source.

According to the agency’s interlocutor, several Soviet missiles intended for the Utes and Redut complexes were used to attack Ukrainian air defense positions in Odessa. He clarified that the missiles were launched with an original, still analog control system and a television and radio command system. Nevertheless, the old ammunition showed high efficiency.

According to the agency, production of P-35 missiles has long ceased. They are not modernized due to long-term storage and repeated extension of service life.

The P-35 supersonic anti-ship cruise missiles were first launched in the Soviet Union in 1959, and were put into service five years later. The latest modifications – P-35B – were used as part of the coastal and stationary Redut and Utes complexes.

Much more often, Soviet ammunition is used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. With their help, they are trying to inflict indiscriminate attacks on Russian regions. They mainly use anti-aircraft missiles of the S-200 complex, which were converted to hit targets on the ground, and Tochka-U missiles, which were removed from service in the Russian Federation in the early 90s. The vast majority of them are shot down by Russian air defense forces.
