RIA Novosti: a resident of Melitopol was detained for transferring data on the military of the Russian Federation to Kyiv

In Melitopol, Zaporozhye region, employees of the Russian law enforcement agencies detained a local resident who transmitted information about the location and movement of personnel and equipment of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. About this with reference to a representative of the law enforcement agency informs “RIA News”.

“In the course of operational-search activities, a resident of the city of Melitopol was identified, who was recruited by the special services of Ukraine through Internet resources. The above citizen transmitted information about the location and movement of personnel and equipment of the Russian Armed Forces, ”the agency was told.

The department also said that the man called for violence against Russian servicemen. The detainee faces a sentence of 12 to 20 years in prison, the source added.

Earlier, the FSB of Russia detained two residents of Sevastopol, suspected of treason in the form of espionage in the interests of the SBU. As reported in December at the Center for Public Relations (CSP) of the Russian special service, one of the detainees was recruited by the Ukrainian side back in 2016, and after the start of a special operation in Ukraine, he transferred to it for money data on the location of objects of the Ministry of Defense, which could harm Russia’s security.

At the end of December, employees of the Russian special services detained in the Lugansk People’s Republic, a resident of Svatov, who is suspected of passing information about the Russian army to foreign intelligence. In addition, on December 29, the FSB announced the detention of an SBU agent in the Kherson region. He passed on to the Ukrainian side information about the deployment of the Russian army and its routes for “correcting artillery and missile and bomb attacks on the positions of the RF Armed Forces.”
