Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Arkadiusz Mulyarchik, the government commissioner for compensation, accused Germany of disrespect because of Berlin’s refusal to discuss the issue of reparations, which Warsaw demands for damages during the Second World War.

Earlier, Poland applied to the UN with a request to facilitate the start of a dialogue with Germany on the payment of reparations. At the same time, the German government sent a diplomatic note to Warsaw, in which it stated that it refused to discuss this issue.

“This answer, formulated in one sentence, shows an absolutely disrespectful attitude towards Poland and the Poles,” Mulyarchik said. He added that Berlin’s response lacked legal reasoning. Mulyarchik also accused Germany of wanting to “treat Poland like a vassal”.

At the same time, he expressed confidence that sooner or later Berlin would be forced to change its mind.
