Reuters: US defense companies may not be able to cope with the growing workload

There is growing concern at the Pentagon due to the expectation of an increase in arms orders from Europe, in particular from Germany and Poland, writes Reuters.
Leading US defense suppliers are expected to face a surge in orders amid the war in Ukraine and may not be able to keep up with the load.
Therefore, the Pentagon leadership will be discussing with representatives of the US defense industry how to solve emerging problems, such as a limited labor market and the disruption of supply chains caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
To address these issues, the Pentagon plans to allocate $500 million in training and retention programs in the coming years, as well as more than $2 billion in supply chain investments as part of an effort to resolve the problems, it said.
