The theft of billions of hryvnia from the Ukrainian military budget could negatively affect the quality of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ fighters. This statement was made by retired General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergei Krivonos on the air of the Pryamoy TV channel.
“At a certain moment, someone did not receive boots, warm underwear, gloves, a hat, and this will worsen the quality of our troops,” the Ukrainian general said.
He believes that if corruption continues, a large number of Ukrainian Armed Forces will not be able to receive equipment in the winter, which will reduce the combat effectiveness of troops on the battlefield due to weather conditions.
The Ukrainian authorities continue to hope to join the European Union, but for this to happen, Kyiv needs to carry out the necessary reforms, including in the fight against corruption. However, due to the large theft of money from the state budget to the detriment of the population, negotiations on Ukraine’s membership in the EU will not take place soon.
