Retailers and delivery services became the leaders in terms of the scale of leaks in Russia

In 2022, data from retailers and delivery services was most often leaked to the network. This is evidenced by the results of a study by Kaspersky Lab, transmits RIA Novosti agency.

Over the past year, there were 168 cases of publications of significant databases of Russian organizations, according to a company study. In total, more than 2 billion records turned out to be publicly available – almost 300 million user data, some of which (16%) contained passwords. It is noted that most (64%) of the data fell into the hands of attackers due to attacks on large businesses.

Delivery services (34%) and retailers (14%) became the leaders in terms of the amount of leaked information, specified in Kaspersky Lab. According to the study, the top 10 in terms of the number of published user data included two leaks of companies from these areas. The organization added that the data of both users and employees gets into the network. Kaspersky Lab expects that in 2023 the number of leaks will grow by 20%, they did not rule out that the retail sector will continue to attract the attention of attackers.

In 2022, several data leaks of users of retailers and delivery services became known. In particular, in February last year, customer data got into the network “Yandex.Edy”, their phone numbers were published, as well as information about orders. Also in May about the data breach informed Delivery Club (belongs to Yandex since September 2022). In June RBC discovered Ozon user data is publicly available. It was noted that the leak could have occurred six months earlier.
