The resort tax in the regions of Russia will be introduced on a voluntary basis, the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development reported. The department noted that the decision on the need to introduce the collection of the head of the Russian subjects will be taken independently. Former President Vladimir Putin instructed the government by December 15 to give the regions the right to introduce a resort tax.
“Resort tax in the regions will be introduced on a voluntary basis. The heads of the subjects will independently decide on the need to introduce a resort fee, ”the ministry said in a statement (quoted by TASS).
From 2018, a resort fee of 100 rubles. was introduced in test mode in the Crimea, Altai, Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories. In December 2022, Vladimir Putin signed a law extending the experiment until 2025. The updated list of cities with a resort fee includes St. Petersburg and the federal territory “Sirius” in the Krasnodar Territory.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, in 2030 in Russia planned create year-round seaside resorts in the Baltic, Azov, Black, Caspian and Japanese seas. These resorts are expected to create at least 44,000 new hotel beds.
