Governor of the Belgorod Region Vyacheslav Gladkov recommended that management companies give residents of apartment buildings the opportunity to make duplicate keys to basements. Previously he instructed prepare basements for temporary accommodation of residents in the event of massive missile attacks from Ukraine.
“I perfectly understand that we cannot distribute the keys to the basements to everyone living in the entrance. There are those who live permanently and those who rent housing. If there are no comments from law enforcement agencies, then I would consider the possibility of issuing duplicate keys to the basements for people who have a permanent residence permit in this house,” said Vyacheslav Gladkov.
By government data, in the Belgorod region there are 5914 apartment buildings, in which there are 9130 basements and technical undergrounds. Only 4,155 houses have the possibility of being placed in basements: by decision of the authorities, they will be equipped with benches and supplies of drinking water, and the premises themselves will be made dry, clean and lit.
At the entrances of houses where there are no basements, information boards will be installed with directions to the nearest underground parking lots or shopping centers where you can hide.
