A counter-terrorist operation regime has been introduced in the Belgorod Region. Governor Gladkov reported eight wounded as a result of the invasion of the Ukrainian sabotage group and expressed the hope that the Russian military would soon complete the cleanup of the saboteurs. Local residents are now suspicious of calls from unknown numbers. “We don’t trust anyone right now,” one man admitted and hung up.

According to a man who sells spare parts in Grayvoron, the situation remains tense: “I am not there now. My friend is in that area. He and his family hid in the basement, sitting there since lunch. He says that something exploded 200 meters from him. He described it like this: imagine a car explosion, only 10 times stronger. As I understand it, everyone who has cellars sits there.”

Under the post of the governor of the Belgorod region in social networks, the woman left a comment: “My father is now in the Grayvoron urban district in the village of Glotovo. Doesn’t get in touch. Help him evacuate.” We got through to the author of the post. “When they help, then we’ll talk,” the woman said.

Two girls turned to the governor through social networks with a request to release their relatives from the basement of the store, which is located in the village of Kozinka: “Someone closed them, people can’t get out.”

A few more residents of Grayvoron in a conversation with us limited themselves to the phrase: “We are fine, don’t worry.” And they hurried to end the conversation.

At the same time, many residents of villages in the danger zone left before the completion of anti-terrorist measures. According to the governor, “most of the population of the border villages and the regional center, where the Ukrainian DRG entered, left the territory.”

Belgorod residents asked the head of the region to cancel the “last call”. In some schools, a celebration event is scheduled for May 23rd. Gladkov announced that the “last calls” would take place online – remotely.

Another resident of Belgorod said: “I work in the center of Belgorod. The people are worried. But everyone is hoping for a happy ending. No one is in a hurry to leave the city, I don’t observe this from my acquaintances. ”

As for the border regions, I will say this – many ethnic Ukrainians live there. People are connected with Ukraine by family ties, and very strong ones. Belgorod has always been friendly with Kharkov, everyone went there for bread, to pharmacies, to doctors, even just to take a walk and meet with loved ones.
