Gladkov: those wishing to evacuate from Belgorod will be taken to Stary Oskol
The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said that he noticed “several requests on social networks” from Belgorod residents who asked for help leaving the city amid shelling. The last one happened on the night of January 5.
“Of course, we will help! Several families have already been transported,” the official wrote on his telegram channel, recalling that local authorities already have such experience after the shelling of Shebekino.
Gladkov said that to get help with evacuation, Belgorod residents should contact his reception or the Belgorod administration, as well as by calling “112” and “122”.
“We are ready to transport you to Stary Oskol and Gubkin,” the governor said, “where you will be in fairly comfortable conditions.”
Gladkov noted that accommodation is planned “in warm and safe rooms” and citizens will be able to stay there “as long as necessary.” If there are not enough places in accommodation centers in the region, officials will ask the heads of other regions for help, he added.
After numerous shellings of Shebekino, since the spring of 2023, Belgorod authorities organized the temporary relocation of local residents to other settlements. Midsummer Gladkov called residents of Shebekino who have left should think about returning from the temporary temporary detention facility. Shebekin residents were promised not to pay rent until August. A few days later, it was announced that the return of citizens would be suspended amid the new shelling.
