Residents of apartments in Yeysk destroyed by a crashed plane are afraid to return home

March 17 marks five months since the terrible tragedy in Yeysk, when a Su-34 crashed into the courtyard of a nine-story building, hitting the house on a tangent. As it became known, the cause of the crash was the birds caught in the engine. Recall that the pilots until the last tried to take the bomber away from the apartment building and ejected 0.7 seconds before the collision. When the plane crashed, four entrances of the house were completely destroyed, 15 people died on the spot. And recently, another victim died in the hospital – six-year-old Ksyusha, who had been in intensive care all this time.

How, after this terrible catastrophe, those who were in this house survive, lost loved ones, lost their homes and, one might say, all the problems people had to face today – the MK correspondent found out.

Residents of the house, victims, witnesses of the tragedy are slowly coming to their senses. But it is unlikely that any of them will ever be able to forget that day. Especially those who have lost their loved ones.

“I’m holding on as best I can and my son too,” said Natalya Kholod, the mother of Xenia, who died in the hospital. – At the moment when the plane crashed, the daughter was in the bedroom, the husband was in the attached room (we made it from the balcony), the mother was in the hall, the son was in the room. I was leaving work at the time. The son managed to jump from the second floor through the window. My husband was found the next day, my mother died immediately, I recognized my daughter by her earrings when rescuers carried her out. For four months she was in intensive care, she had severe poisoning from combustion products. Due to the fact that the lungs were damaged, oxygen did not enter the brain. My daughter failed, we couldn’t save her… We buried her next to her father in Vorontsovka, and my mother in the city. The son came to his senses, does not cry, keeps everything in himself, has now begun to visit a psychologist at school, is studying in the third grade. But work saves and distracts me (Natalya is a teacher in a boarding school for children with hearing impairments – author). How to live on – I do not know yet. I don’t know anything yet.

– Where do you live now?

– Together with my son, we live in a temporary accommodation facility at the Yeyskaya Usadba Hotel. We have one room, the conditions are normal. We live for free, however, there is no place to cook, but food is brought to us three times a day. I wash clothes with my godmother, she lives nearby. In total, 22 people from this house live there, there are families, there are single people. The authorities promise to restore our house by November and give an apartment there as it was. But there is no construction work going on yet. They say they are waiting for a builder… Four out of ten entrances are missing now

– What help did you receive?

– Financial assistance was paid.

– Do you want to return to this house?

I don’t know, it’s scary and creepy.

73-year-old Lyudmila Silyukova miraculously survived. Only ruins remained from her entrance, and the woman says that she simply cannot start life anew.

– In that house I lived since 1988 in the fourth entrance, I had a two-room apartment, – says Lyudmila. – Once there was a family, then the husband died, the daughter got married, left. That day I was at work (I am a math teacher), left school at six in the evening home, but on the way I went to the store. And then everyone started calling me and telling me what happened. When I approached, everything was already cordoned off, everything was on fire. I saw this terrible picture. It’s good that I was late, otherwise I would have …

Now I live with my sister in a private house, this is my parents’ house, and there is my share. But I would like, of course, to rent an apartment, because this house is without amenities. There is no toilet, no bathroom. My apartment did not burn down, but the trouble is that we took little from there. There, many of our entrances left pieces of furniture in their apartments. In order to pick up things, we were given two or three times for 30 minutes, wearable things to pick up. And then they gave only one hour for each apartment. Well, imagine – I have the seventh floor, the elevator is broken, what could I endure in an hour? Almost nothing. Everything is left there. Kitchen, bedroom, various good furniture. They didn’t give me time to pick it up. Everything is lost.

– Couldn’t they pick it up later?

– No, they didn’t. And then everything was destroyed, all four entrances were completely dismantled, the garbage was taken out, now there is land. Now they say that they will build on the same place, again 4 entrances. They will give the same apartments, the same layout and in the same place, floor, but with a clean finish. That is, bare walls, floors, front door, screed on the floor and that’s it. No sinks, no toilets, no baths. They promised to allocate either 10 or 15 thousand rubles for repairs per square meter. What is this? Nothing. What can be done and bought for 600 thousand? Install interior doors, putty walls, ceilings. Of course, we are all upset. It is still necessary to find builders and how much they will take, we obviously will not meet this money. No, It is Immpossible. They paid us 10,000 immediately and 100,000 rubles per person for the loss of property. And what is it when we had all the property left there.

– That is, everything practically from scratch will have to be done?

– Exactly. There are six entrances left from the house, which are on the other side of the street, where people live. And now we are obligated to pay for overhaul! This is mind-boggling! True, we do not pay the rent, but they demand 370 rubles each for a major overhaul. The other day at the meeting, we raised this issue more than once. Why do we have to pay, we ask – and they tell us that this house is on their balance sheet. But we have land there, there is nothing from the entrances. This question is still hanging. Some even cry. And they cannot solve the issue at the local level, only at the federal level.

– When do they promise you to restore the entrances and build apartments?

– They haven’t started doing anything yet. They promised to start on March 15th. They will also examine the ground, because everything was burning, blazing, the explosions were terrible. And by the first of November, they seem to be going to give the keys, and before the new year we have to move in. But this is unlikely. We asked to be given ready-made apartments within the city, but we were refused. There are many difficulties now, very much. Money is not enough, but how much effort, energy must be invested and health spent. Eh, all the good furniture was left there … It’s like starting life from scratch.

– Where do your former neighbors live now?

– Who is in rented apartments, who is in a sanatorium, they are fed there. Tragedy, of course, terrible. I know some people just don’t want to go back there. Until now, we do not sleep at night, sometimes you wake up and all this horror is before your eyes.

Our mayor meets with people every Monday, set aside time from five to six – whoever has any problems, please come, we solve everything as best we can. Do they decide? He said that a contractor was found for the construction, they would only finalize the documentation. Let’s see how it actually turns out.
