The Central Election Commission has approved remote electronic voting (DEV) for the September elections in 24 regions. About it reported in the commission.
“This year, the DEG on the federal platform will be applied in 24 regions, in 18 of them for the first time,” said Ella Pamfilova, chairman of the CEC.
In total, more than 30 applications were submitted from the regions, but the commission approved the holding of the DEG only in 24. The subjects were selected according to several criteria, including Internet coverage and public services coverage. This year, according to the CEC, more than 21 million voters can take part in electronic voting.
The DEG will be available to voters in the by-elections of State Duma deputies in Crimea and the Lipetsk region. Also, electronic voting can be used in Chuvashia, Altai Territory, Vladimir, Voronezh, Moscow, Novosibirsk and other regions.
In April Pamfilova toldthat the DEG is planned to be held in the presidential elections in Russia in 2024 in those regions where it has already been tested.
