According to parliamentarians, in such a difficult time as today, many of those who call themselves magicians and psychics are trying to cash in on gullible citizens. Services of this kind are now commercialized, which means that, like any business, they must be regulated by law.
Pseudo-specialists must understand that they are responsible for their actions. And if a client who turned to a magician or sorcerer received harm instead of help, or lost his life altogether, then the culprit must answer in accordance with the criminal code of the Russian Federation. Moreover, the deputies suggest that the punishment can be up to the most severe. According to the expert, if we are talking about deprivation of life, then the “healer” guilty of this should be punished in the same way as the one who killed a person in another way.
Moreover, the punishment should also apply to those pseudo-witches who are indirectly guilty of the deterioration of the health or death of the client. For example, if a person with oncology, as a result of an appeal to a sorcerer, began to take drugs “prescribed” by him and abandoned traditional drug treatment. Also, officials believe that it is necessary to carefully check the integrity of healers who order advertising on central television channels.
According to the deputies, the law should not harm the regions of Russia where the traditions of shamanism and witchcraft are strong – for example, Yakutia. The task is not set to destroy the national culture, which is passed down from generation to generation. But if the magician invades the physical health of a person and the consequences of this are negative, then he will have to answer for this.
