Registration of Ukrainian women for military registration was postponed to next year

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has decided to postpone the start of registering women for military registration until October 2023, Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar said on social networks.
“The Ministry of Defense prepared an order, which once again postponed the deadlines for registering women for military registration for another year, until October 1, 2023. The corresponding order was signed on September 6 by Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov,” she said.
Malyar stressed that the Defense Ministry has already sent its proposals to the Parliament, which involve the recruitment of women into the army exclusively on a voluntary basis. Within a year, she expects, the changes will be approved.
On September 4, Ukrainian media reported that Ukrainian women who have entered the military register will not be able to leave the country from October 1. Persons liable for military service are representatives of specialties in 14 regions, including telecommunications, chemistry, biology, etc. Lawyer of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Volodymyr Smilka stressed that registration is not evidence of mobilization. He noted that the country “is approaching NATO standards not only in weapons, but also in military records.”
Martial law in Ukraine was introduced on February 24. It has been extended several times. In mid-August, the Verkhovna Rada supported the bills submitted by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to extend the terms of mobilization and martial law. According to the bill “On the extension of the martial law in Ukraine”, from August 23, it will be extended for 90 days. Similar terms are established by the second document – “On the extension of the terms for general mobilization.”
