The head of the Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, said that foreign medicines were delivered to Russia with delays, but manufacturers did not refuse to deliver to the country. Nevertheless, the Russian regions have been instructed to form a stock of medicines for at least four months.
“The Ministry of Health has given strict instructions to all regions to have a sufficient amount – at least four months of supply – of medicines in order to ensure medical processes. This is the minimum amount of reserves that medical organizations should have,” Mikhail Murashko told reporters (quoted from TASS).
“For foreign products, sometimes logistics chains give delays, but today we don’t see any failures or big threats,” he added. According to him, the increase in the production of Russian drugs is proceeding at a faster pace.
Earlier, some European drug manufacturers reduced their activities in Russia due to the military operation in Ukraine. As Kommersant wrote, against this background, Indian and Chinese suppliers can increase their shares in the Russian market. The government is also trying to replace supplies from the EU with medicines from Russian manufacturers, but Kommersant experts believe that it will be difficult to achieve full import substitution.
