From November 21 to 27 at the Chess and Checkers Sports School No. 5 named after Ya.G. Karbasnikov” regional chess competitions among veterans were held.
Eight athletes from Arkhangelsk and Severodvinsk took part in the competition, using a round-robin system to identify the strongest. Despite the advanced age of the chess players (60+), the struggle at the chessboard was stubborn. Each game lasted about two hours.
From the very beginning of the tournament, the leadership was taken by Arkhangelsk resident Dmitry Khromylev and Severodvinsk chess player Alexander Shanin. As a result, both athletes scored the same number of points, and only according to additional indicators the representative of the regional center became the winner.
