“Maybe we will return to Severodonetsk, but already to Russia”

Voting on a referendum on the entry of the republics of the LDNR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions into the Russian Federation takes place not only on their territory, but also in Russia, where hundreds of thousands of refugees are fleeing shelling. About how they vote in a referendum in some regions – in the material “MK”

According to the chairman of the election commission of the Tula region, Yulia Esina, from September 23 to 26, voting will take place outside the polling stations. Members of precinct commissions will go to the municipalities of the region, where residents of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions now live. During these days, they will also visit all points of temporary accommodation for refugees – there are 21 of them in the Tula region. On September 27, voting will take place at two polling stations. On one – voting for citizens of the DPR and the Zaporozhye region, on the second – for the citizens of the LPR and the Kherson region. “If one of the participants, for a good reason, suddenly cannot visit the polling station, the precinct election commission will provide the opportunity to vote at home,” Yulia said.

Yulia Esina said that the lists of voters were formed in advance and continue to be formed, however, those who did not get into them have the opportunity to come to the polling station, present a certificate of a citizen of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions and take part in the referendum.

Inna Kostetskaya, a member of the election commission from the Luhansk People’s Republic, was the first to vote on Friday. She is a resident of the city of Severodonetsk, she arrived in Tula with her family on April 1. “We received Russian citizenship, we are working, we are making plans for our own housing. If the situation in our city improves, at least communications are put in order, maybe we will return – to the city of Severodonetsk, but already to Russia, ”says Inna.

According to her, everything is organized at the highest level, even in terms of medical standards – Inna is a health worker.

“Today, a referendum is being held on the entry of the LPR into the Russian Federation. Residents of the Lugansk People’s Republic were handed ballots containing only one question: are you in favor of the Lugansk People’s Republic joining the Russian Federation as a subject of the Russian Federation? And two answers – yes and no, ”says Inna. She also pointed out that her compatriots vote very actively, all residents of the TAP, located in the Moskva Hotel, came and took part.

Her husband, Sergei Kostetsky, considers the vote a historic moment. He participated in the first referendum – in May 2014, when the issue of acquiring the status of a republic by the LPR was decided. “Everything should fall into place, historically it should be so. People are coming back, everything is happening as it was destined,” says Sergey.

Irina Ganya, a citizen of the LPR, a resident of the city of Rubizhnoye, shared her impressions. “I think this is an important day in history, I am very worried. I think that the fate of people, their future life is being decided. This is the reunion of compatriots, people who have always been one, but were not voluntarily separated,” she says.

Irina and her children came to Tula in March – relatives live here with the family. According to her, they settled down wonderfully, everyone is very attentive, the woman works as a confectioner, the children attend kindergarten and school. The TAP social worker helps them in everything. Irina also says that all residents of the temporary accommodation center want, first of all, peace.

Meanwhile, in the Borovsky district of the Kaluga region, refugees have already voted. At the temporary accommodation center for refugees on the territory of the Polet camp in the Borovsky district, there was an opportunity to speak out at the referendum on Friday. 58 people made their choice. This is two-thirds of those who have the right to vote. 21 people have not yet voted because they were at work. They will be able to do it on Saturday in Obninsk at the polling station in Olympus. The administration of the Borovsky district will provide them with transport, said the head of the district, Nikolai Kalinichev.
