Reed Boucher: “Avant-garde leaders regularly have many chances, we can play better”

On September 14, Avangard beat Admiral 4:3 in overtime in a KHL championship match on home ice. The author of the decisive goal for the Omsk team, Reed Boucher, answered media questions after the game in the locker room.

Reed was also asked about his own goal – how it was scored.

– Your goal was decisive, how would you describe it?

– In that episode, at first, not everything worked out the way we wanted. But in the end, Spoonner passed it on to me, I took the puck, made a shot, and it turned out to be accurate.

– Tell us about your well-being after that incident in the match with Amur, when you had to leave the game at the start (the hockey player had a tooth knocked out and a cut lip – ed.). And what happened there in general?

– As you can see, there are cuts on the face, they needed stitches. Lost a tooth. But still, I’m ready to play now, from the moment I returned from America, and I’m doing it.

– Do you remember the visiting hockey player who caused you to be injured?

– Yes, his last name is Grachev, a young player.

The fact that he did this on purpose – no, it is clear that this did not happen. This is hockey, everything was unintentional. There was a struggle there. I literally accidentally ran into the stick with my face and mouth. This happens in games.

– What caused Avangard the most problems from the opponents during the three periods of regular time?

– He just acted tightly throughout this whole time. But we also played quite tightly and well. The opponent was just in rhythm and found a way to our goal. I was able to score and even the score. It’s great that our guys played well further and in the end we achieved victory.

– Avangard leaders turned the game around today and pulled out the match. But it still seems that they can add and play stronger. Is it so? Not everything is working out yet?

– Yes, we can play even better. We have many moments regularly. But you need to bring the puck to the goal. And as the season progresses, I think it will get better.
