On Monday, record snowdrifts may form in Moscow, said Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia.
In a commentary to RIA Novosti, he said that there would be heavy snowfall in Moscow on Saturday and Sunday, as a result, snowdrifts would grow to 40 cm by Monday.
At the same time, on December 19 in Moscow, the height of snowdrifts reached 34 cm, which was a repetition of the maximum that took place in 1941.
Vilfand noted that each period has its own snow “records”, and during the winter, the maximum height of snowdrifts is usually recorded in late February and early March.
